BCS National Championship - New Orleans, LA
#1 Ohio State vs. #2 Louisiana State (FOX | 8 PM ET)

- Last year, the extended time off (51 days) between games really cooled off the previously unbeaten Buckeyes, and insiders feel that same problem could recur against the SEC’s best team. The Tigers have the most NFL talent on their roster and will be able to make good use of the break to heal their wounds, just like USC did in last year’s Rose Bowl. That’s bad news for the Buckeyes and could very well lead to another ugly title game. (Source: Matty O'Shea)
- Some insiders believe Ohio State learned a valuable lesson from last year's loss to Florida in the BCS Title Game, as Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith was busy making appearances across the country after winning the award and the Buckeyes in general were sitting pretty as the clear-cut favorite. This year, they get a second chance in an underdog role despite being the #1 team in the nation. "Last year we did get complacent," Ohio State LB James Laurinaitis said. "We felt we were invincible. We have a lot of guys on this team that know what it takes to get it done. We're not looking at last year at all. It's over with. This is a great opportunity for us." (Source: Matty O'Shea)
- LSU is the only 2-loss team ever to play in the BCS Title Game, although both of the Tigers' losses came in triple overtime. They will be using a 2-quarterback system featuring senior Matt Flynn and sophomore Ryan Perrilloux, who won the SEC Championship game in his 2nd start of the season. Perrilloux gives LSU an added dimension of running the ball and reminds many of former Texas QB Vince Young. (Source: Matty O'Shea)
- Much has been made of LSU's potential home-field advantage at the Superdome, but Ohio State travels better than any team in the country and should be able to neutralize that with a 50-50 split in the stands. (Source: Matty O'Shea)
- Ohio State will be without backup CB Eugene Clifford, but starting CB Donald Washington has been cleared to play after it was previously reported that he would be suspended as well. (Source: JWhip)
- LSU head coach Les Miles is 13-0 SU & 11-1 ATS vs. non-conference opponents with Tigers. (Source: Marc Lawrence)
- Ohio State is 0-8 SU vs. SEC opponents in bowl games.
- Ohio State is 30-2 SU & 22-8 ATS in its last 32 games.
- Ohio State is 6-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

- LSU is 8-2-1 ATS in its last 11 games on turf.
