Tigers: The Tigers entered their current 10-game road swing having won seven straight, but they have now dropped four of their past six. Detroit is 17-37 in their last 54 road games and traditionally struggle at Minnesota. The Tigers are 26-57 (31 percent) during their past 83 road games versus the Twins. Outfielder Magglio Ordonez continues to struggle, hitting just .173 with one home run and three RBIs in his last 14 games. Lefty Lucas French makes his first major-league start. The 23-year-old was 4-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 13 starts for Triple-A Toledo. French has been Detroit’s best minor league pitcher the past month giving up four earned runs and 16 hits in his last three starts, while striking out 26 over 23 innings. French made two relief appearances for the Tigers earlier this season, not allowing a run in three innings.

PROJECTED SCORE: 4

The Tigers are 7-1 in their last eight games versus a right-handed starter.

Detroit is 2-7 in their last nine games following an off day.

Carlos Guillen (shoulder) is on the DL.

Twins (-$1.55, O/U 9 over -$1.20): Kevin Slowey (10-3, 4.41 ERA) is seeking to become the first 11-game winner this season. Slowey had problems in his last outing on Saturday in St. Louis with heat, humidity and Albert Pujols. He was pulled after three innings – his shortest outing of the season – after giving up five runs and six hits, including a pair of homers to Pujols. Slowey was 6-1 with a 3.04 ERA in eight previous starts. The Twins are 12-1 in Slowey’s last 13 starts with five days of rest. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 4.57 ERA in four starts against the Tigers. Slowey beat the Tigers at home on May 12, 6-2, allowing one run and eight hits in six innings.  Joe Mauer is batting .488 (21-for-43) with a homer and 13 RBIs in his last 11 home games against the Tigers. Minnesota is 58-27 in its past 85 home contests

PROJECTED SCORE: 5 (Side of the Day)

The Under has cashed in Minnesota’s last 6 games.

The Twins are 22-6 following a day off.

Justin Morneau (groin) and Nick Punto (back) are both questionable.

Key Injuries

Diamondbacks: Arizona stands a season-worst 17 games below .500. The Diamondbacks are 2-10 in their last 12 games despite posting a respectable 3.82 ERA during this span. Only four times in their past 12 games have the Diamondbacks managed to score more than three runs. Max Scherzer (5-5, 3.67 ERA) had a three-game winning streak stopped during his last start. The right-hander gave up eight runs – five of which were unearned – and four hits in 4 1/3 innings during a 12-8 loss to the Angels on Sunday. Scherzer had posted a 1.46 ERA in his previous four starts, striking out 24 in 24 2/3 innings. Arizona is 7-3 in Scherzer’s last 10 starts. However, the Diamondbacks are 3-8 in Scherzer’s last 11 road outings. Scherzer lost his only start to Colorado, surrendering three runs and seven hits in six innings of a 3-2 defeat last Sept. 19. .

PROJECTED SCORE: 5

The Over is 16-7-1 in Arizona’s last 24 contests.

Eric Byrnes (hand) is on the DL.

Rockies (-$1.25, O/U 9.5): The Rockies have won 10 of their last 12 at Coors Field. They are averaging six runs, while batting .321 with 11 homers during a five-game home winning streak. However, the Rockies have lost seven of their last nine home games to the Diamondbacks. Colorado also has scored a combined eight runs in its last four games. Colorado starter Jorge De La Rosa (4-7, 5.64 ERA) has struggled at Coors Field this season, going 1-5 with a 7.97 ERA. Colorado is 1-6 in his last seven home starts. De La Rosa, though, has four wins in his last five starts after going winless during his first 10 outings. He leads the Rockies with 87 strikeouts in 81 1/3 innings. The left-hander gave up two runs and five hits while striking out five in six innings during the Rockies’ 11-9 win on Saturday against the Athletics.

PROJECTED SCORE: 6 (OVER - Total of the Day)

Colorado is 6-18 in its last 24 meetings with Arizona.
