Key Injuries

Rays(-$1.30, O/U 11 under -$1.20): Promising rookie left-hander David Price (2-2, 3.93 ERA) showed why he is so highly-touted during his last start. Price allowed one earned run in 6 1/3 innings during a 5-2 victory against Florida on Sunday. In his two previous starts versus the Rockies and Phillies, Price had given up 10 earned runs on 17 hits in 11 1/3 innings. Price has had bouts of wildness, walking 18 batters in his last five starts, as he attempts to achieve consistency and last deeper into games. Price reached the seventh inning on Sunday for just second time in seven starts. The Rays have won their past eight games on Saturday. The under has cashed in eight of Tampa Bay’s past nine road contests. Tampa is 7-2 in its last nine overall games, but just 7-21 in their last 28 games when favored on the road.

PROJECTED SCORE: 6

The Rays are 11-23 in their last 34 away games versus a left-handed starter.

The Under has cashed in 4 of the past 6 meetings between the two clubs in Arlington.

Akinori Iwamura (knee) and Troy Percival (shoulder) are on the DL.

Rangers: Improved pitching and defense along with reduced power have made the Rangers a strong under the total club. Texas is 45-18-1 to the under in its last 64 games. Rookie southpaw Derek Holland (1-5, 6.20 ERA) struck out eight in his last start, but also gave up six earned runs on 13 hits in 5 2/3 innings in a 7-3 home loss to San Diego last Saturday. That marked the first time in 56 years a pitcher had yielded 13 hits to go with eight strikeouts in less than six innings. The Rangers are 0-5 in Holland’s last six starts. Holland is 1-4 at home with a 9.00 ERA when pitching at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The Rangers have scored four or fewer runs in 10 of their last 14 games. They have gone under the past four times when the total has been 11 or higher.

PROJECTED SCORE: 5 (UNDER - Total of the Day)

The Under is 18-6 in Texas’ last 24 games versus a left-handed starter.

Josh Hamilton (abdominal) is on the DL.

Key Injuries

Diamondbacks: It’s hard to back the Diamondbacks these days, losers of eight of their last nine games. The Diamondbacks have committed a major-league leading 74 errors. They are 3-13 in their last 16 games when facing a right-handed starter. The Diamondbacks haven’t been able to solidify their fifth starter and now they’re turning to Yusmeiro Petit (0-3, 8.03 ERA). He’s making his first start since May 8 having been on the DL with a shoulder injury. Arizona is 0-7 in Petit’s last seven starts. The right-hander has surrendered six home runs in his last 12 2/3 innings. Petit was 0-1 with a 6.89 ERA in five stars for Triple-A Reno while working his way back into shape. In his last outing with Reno, Petit pitched three innings and gave up three runs (two earned) and five hits. Arizona is 7-3 in its last 10 games at Coors Field.

PROJECTED SCORE: 4

The Under is 9-3 in Petit’s last 12 road starts.

Eric Byrnes (hand) is on the DL.

Rockies (-$2.00, O/U 10 under -$1.20): Aaron Cook (8-3, 3.77 ERA) looks to stay red hot. Cook was one of the best pitchers in June going 5-0 with a 1.75 ERA in five starts. Cook allowed just seven earned runs and 31 hits in those five starts, which spanned 36 innings. His strikeout-to-walk ratio in June was 22-to-seven. No National League pitcher won more games in June than Cook. This is the second time this season Cook is facing the Diamondbacks. They beat him up on Opening Day, scoring six runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings at Chase Field. Colorado is 1-7 in Cook’s last eight starts versus a team with a losing record. The over is 18-8-2 in Cook’s past 28 starts. Colorado is playing well, winning 22 of its last 27 games. The Rockies are 20-7 in their last 27 contests against a right-handed starter.

PROJECTED SCORE: 6 (Side of the Day)

The Over is 16-5-1 in Cook’s last 22 home starts versus a team with a losing record.

Manny Corpas (elbow) is on the DL.
