Head-to-Head Recaps

SECOND-ROUND SERIES RESULTS (HOME team in CAPS)

Phoenix wins 4-3 SU & ATS
OVER 6-1

5/22/06 - Game 7: PHOENIX 127, La Clippers 107 (ATS winner: Phoenix -4 | OVER 215.5)
Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: The Suns got the rest they needed and ran the Clippers out of the building for their second-highest scoring game of the series.  LA tied the game at 28-28 toward the end of the first quarter but trailed 32-28 as the quarter came to an end and never got close again.  The Phoenix lead snowballed from 65-57 at halftime to 94-79 at the end of three, leading to the sixth OVER in seven games.

5/18/06 - Game 6: LA CLIPPERS 118, Phoenix 106 (ATS winner: LAC -5 | OVER 213.5)
Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: The Clippers took control of this game in the second quarter, turning a 32-31 deficit into a 62-50 halftime lead.  The Suns would not draw closer than seven points in the second half.  Both teams continued their high-scoring play, totaling 55 points or more between them in three of the four quarters for another easy OVER.

5/16/06 - Game 5: PHOENIX 125, La Clippers 118 2OT (ATS winner: Phoenix -4.5 | OVER 216.5)
Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: Phoenix blew a 19-point lead in the third quarter and went to the first overtime after Sam Cassell hit a 3-pointer for LA with 39.8 seconds left in regulation.  The Suns forced a second OT when Raja Bell nailed a 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds left.  The Clippers never led in the second extra session while the Suns scored the game's last five points in the last 52 seconds to cover the spread.  The first overtime enabled the game to go OVER.

5/14/06 - Game 4: LA CLIPPERS 114, Phoenix 107 (ATS winner: LAC -5 | OVER 210)
Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: The Clippers led 61-51 at halftime and were in control for most of the game until a late 12-0 run by the Suns cut the deficit to 106-105 with 1:12 left.  LA held off Phoenix though when Sam Cassell hit a 3-pointer and went 1-for-2 from the free-throw line and Cuttino Mobley scored on a basket and two free throws.  The Suns missed five 3-point attempts in the last 42 seconds - failing to cover the spread - but that didn't keep the total from going OVER.

5/12/06 - Game 3: Phoenix 94, LA CLIPPERS 91 (ATS winner: Phoenix +3.5 | UNDER 214.5)
Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: This game was close throughout, with the Suns outscoring the Clippers 12-6 down the stretch to earn the victory.  Phoenix seemed to take control of the game by outscoring LA 24-15 in the third quarter for a 72-63 lead entering the fourth, but the Clippers battled back behind reserve Vladimir Radmanovic, who scored 14 of his 18 points during a span of less than four minutes in the final quarter.  The defensive pace kept the total way UNDER.

5/10/06 - Game 2: La Clippers 122, PHOENIX 97 (ATS winner: LAC +4 | OVER 216)
Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: The Clippers simply dominated the Suns on the boards, outrebounding them 57-26 en route to a dominating victory.  LA led 50-41 with 5:16 left in the second quarter, and that was the last time Phoenix would be within single digits.  The Clippers were up 65-51 at halftime - easily on an OVER pace - and the Suns never put a dent into that 14-point deficit the rest of the way.

5/8/06 - Game 1: PHOENIX 130, La Clippers 123 (ATS winner: Phoenix -5 | OVER 209.5)
Recap | Boxscore
SUMMARY: LA held a 61-56 lead at halftime, and the pace stayed on course for an easy OVER the rest of the game.  Of course that wasn't a good thing for the Clippers, who surrendered 74 points to the Suns in the second half and simply couldn't keep up.  Phoenix went on a decisive 19-6 run after Elton Brand scored his last basket for the Clips to tie the score at 101, giving the Suns a 120-107 lead with 2:56 remaining.  LA got within 122-115 but couldn't cover the spread after Steve Nash converted a 3-point play with a minute to go.
