Man, Lou Gossett Jr, (what a wonderful and memorable actor) passed away early this morning at the age of 87.
He lived a full life and had a long career spanning over 70 years. his most memorable roles were that of drill instructor Emil Folley in the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" (one of my all-time favorite movies) a role for which he won an Oscar. and for the role of Fiddler in the TV miniseries "ROOTS" (one of my favorite miniseries) a role for which he won an Emmy.
He stayed working till the end of his life as I noticed him in a small role in the 2023 version of the movie "The Color Purple."
Here are some memorable scenes from both an Officer and a Gentleman and ROOTS. if you haven't seen An Officer and A Gentleman, I highly suggest you do its a great effin movie.
